Tips For Developing a Successful Video Blog

Engagement is extremely important when you're talking about inbound marketing.

A video blog is a great way for you and your company to show the personality of your company as well as telling your visitors about how your product or service can help them.

Did you know that there are over 42,000,000 blogs out there on the Internet?

With all of those blogs out there it can be extremely difficult for your prospects to find you.  This is where video blogging comes in handy. Just by implementing video marketing you can see an increase in both sales and leads.

If you're not using video marketing, you're losing customers to those who do. Businesses that incorporate video into their overall marketing strategy see higher engagement rates, higher click-through rates and higher conversion rate.

What is a Video Blog?

Video marketing isn't just about creating commercials. Video marketing is a great inbound marketing tool that will help increase the reach of your company as well as educating your visitors at the same time.

So, You've heard of a blog, but a video blog? When you think video blog, you're probably thinking of all of those people on YouTube that post every week, talk about viral content, or post hair and makeup tutorials. I want you to stop right there and change your thinking about a video blog.

A video blog, also known as a ‘vlog’ is a website that uses video as its primary mode of content delivery, rather than text or image. The primary distribution channel that most people think of is a companies website or YouTube. There are other channels! You video blog through your Facebook page, Twitter account. The main idea behind video blogging, is to use video as a medium to share your thoughts, views, or to raise awareness about a topic, product or service.

Tips for a Successful Video Blog

Creating a Video Blog

It is not as easy as 1,2,3. Creating a video blog, doesn't just include developing content. The setup of your video is extremely important. Is there a certain area where you want to shot your video blog? To keep consistency, don't change where you're going to film your video. Not only will you confuse your audience, but it won't help you develop

When creating your video, keep the following in mind:

    • Give it the same title as that of your blog post title.
    • All SEO Rules of writing an attractive title applies to video blogs as well
    • Keep your video title length short - at most 60-70 characters
    • Add at least a 100 word description for each of your videos
    • Leave a link to your blog post under the video description
    • Add no more than 10 short phrased and related tags
    • The Purpose of your video should be, to grab the attention of your visitors, eventually bringing them to your blog.
    • Always interlink your videos by adding anchor tags in youTube.
    • Always leave one question unanswered in your videos so that the viewer may be forced to search for it at your blog.

Other most crucial element of creating your video blog include the equipment your going to use. The equipment you use can range from webcam to video recorder, to sound to even the lighting you're going to need to create high quality video. If you're thinking about using your desktop to film your video blog, consider using Camstudio or Camtasia, to film on your desktop. The sound of your video is key. If your viewers cannot understand what you're saying you aren't providing them with any quality content or information .

What makes a good video blog:

    • Passion
    • Length
    • Personality

Video Blog Distribution and Promotion

A video blog is extremely easy to implement and promote to your audience and target audience. What medium do you think your audience would like on more? Videos are arguably more tempting to click on than a regular blog article. Not everyone has the time to sit down and read an article they don't know anything about. With a video blog, in one to two minutes you can briefly explain your article, giving them a reason to read your full blog article. Don't forget to add the URL of your blog article to the description of your video. Otherwise, your video that was promoted on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, won't generate any extra traffic to your site if you don't include the link to that page.

Can distribute a video blog through:

    • YouTube
    • blip.tv
    • Vimeo
    • Grouper
    • Metacafe

Time

This is something that could either make or break your attempt at video blogging. When using video as a way to promote the content for your blog, you want to consider the time it will take to edit your video. If this isn't something that you excel at it might take you even longer to get your video published.

To help speed up the process and to ensure that your video blog is reaching your audience and that you're producing quality content consider using an inbound marketing agency that will help promote your video, not only on your blog but through various social media platforms.

Thinking about creating a video blog, here are some tips:

    • Be yourself
    • Use B-roll to add photos and depth to your video
    • Ensure your audio is clear, your voice is your brands identity
