Don’t fear the robots: Using AI to boost productivity in the workplace [Infographic]

For many, AI, or artificial intelligence, has always seemed futuristic or something that is only possible in a movie, but the reality is that it is becoming more plausible and widely-used every day.

For others, it may spark fear.

Will it replace my job? Are there other security risks I should be concerned about?

The short answer is not necessarily.

According to Forbes, only 23% of businesses are using AI within their processes but that number is expected to grow by 50% in the next five years, as it has many different types of adaptations.

In fact, many businesses are actually utilizing AI to help them boost productivity and efficiency.

This infographic from Adzooma highlights some great opportunities for you to implement AI into your current processes successfully.

Why should you consider using AI?

Studies have shown that incorporating AI into your processes can increase productivity by 40%

It has the ability to lighten your workload by handling the menial, systematic tasks and allowing you to focus on the items that require a higher skill set. It fact, it likely can do them faster.

AI and automation can multi-task and make simultaneous decisions while a human cannot.

There is also no risk of bias, human error, burnout or boredom. These traits can easily cause a human to fall off track or affect their ability to get a job done, but with AI they aren’t even a thought.

What kind of jobs can you simplify with AI?

1. Data analyst/scientist:

A data analyst needs to be able to sift through large amounts of customer data and spot trends or areas of opportunities.

While data analysts are valued and highly sought after, they also come with a large salary that may not be feasible for all companies.

Deloitte’s LaborWise can provide managers with statistics to help a company identify areas of improvement without a full-time data analyst.

2. Demand forecaster:

A demand forecaster looks at historical data to try to predict future customer demand.

According to McKinsey, AI can reduce supply chain errors by up to 50% making the results more accurate when performed by a machine versus a human.

3. Administrative assistant:

AI shouldn’t entirely replace the role of an administrative assistant, but it can definitely help with some of the day-to-day.

X.ai can help coordinate meetings and calendars, Otter.ai can take meeting notes, Skype Translator can help with translation services, and, of course, chatbots can help users get answers to frequently asked questions quicker and funnel people where they need to be.

4. Marketing assistant:

AI software is allowing companies to personalize their products and services more effectively. This means that certain processes that used to be more manual like email follow-up can be automated now through things like workflows and smart content.

What are you waiting for?

With every passing year, the increasing presence of AI in the workplace is growing. Businesses that embrace it will be ahead of the curve and enjoy the benefits of implementing it: efficiency, accuracy, and speed.

While 70% of workers fear that AI will replace jobs, the same group of people believes it will have a mostly positive effect on people’s quality of life.

Jobs that have been traditionally more labor-intensive or time-consuming, could possibly be taken over by machines and allow people to focus on more enjoyable “human” type roles.

This would allow people at your company to grow their skillset and provide more value than ever before.

The bottom line is that AI is the future so it is time to get on board.
