Last month, I had the privilege of speaking at INBOUND 2017. I can still barely believe it! It was a whirlwind experience, and I’m still processing the awesomeness of getting to stand up in front of over 1,000 people (twice!) and share with them the top 10 things we’ve learned from doing over one hundred Website Throwdowns. As I think about that week, there are three lessons that I learned from this experience I’d love to share with you or any reluctant public speaker.
In January 2015, IMPACT was a budding HubSpot partner on a mission: to help people and their organizations succeed, and we were looking for a way to collaborate with other marketing pros, give leads the opportunity to experience our team’s expertise, and interact with the greater inbound marketing community. That’s when our team came up with the idea to conduct monthly live website critiques online with other industry influencers -- and thus, the Website Throwdown was born. *insert magical background music here* Since then, we’ve been throwing down websites every month with experts like Peep Laja of ConversionXL, Oli Gardner of Unbounce, and Chris Savage of Wistia, just to name a few. Last year, we even took Website Throwdown on the road to HubSpot’s annual conference and did one-on-one, in-person throwdowns at the IMPACT Booth in Club INBOUND. (which we’re doing it again this month!) And let me tell you - after doing over a hundred Website Throwdowns there and even more online, the IMPACT team has learned A TON.
Inbound marketing heavyweight, Mike Volpe, may have been out of the tech spotlight for the most part this year, but covertly, he’s been very much active on the Boston startup scene. On the helms of news that he’ll be joining cyber security company, Cybereason, as CMO, we’re excited to welcome Mike to Website Throwdown on Wednesday, October 12th as our featured guest.
Last week on Website Throwdown, we welcomed The Sales Lion President and renowned marketing speaker, Marcus Sheridan, into the ring. Broadcasting live from his beach house, Marcus shared a great deal of lively and quote-worthy advice as we critiqued seven lucky viewer-websites live on the air. Below are three of the biggest design and content takeaways from our broadcast, but just in case you missed it, here’s the full episode for you to enjoy:
Last week, we welcomed HubSpot UX Designer, speaker, and author, Austin Knight to Website Throwdown to tear apart a new batch of user-submitted websites. Overseeing the user experience of HubSpot.com, INBOUND.com, the HubSpot blog, and a number of other platforms, Austin had a wealth of marketing, UX, and design knowledge to share with audiences -- so much that our broadcast ran for an unprecedented 1 hour and 45 minutes. (No joke.)
This month our live website critique, Website Throwdown, turns one and like any proud parents, we’re celebrating! Through this little-broadcast-that-could, we have seen nearly 300 websites from across the globe and welcomed some of the industry’s biggest influencers to help us tear as many apart as possible. The feedback on viewer’s marketing and design has been direct, educational, and most importantly, honest, and we can’t say thank you enough to everyone who has joined us for the ride so far.
David Meerman Scott, world-renowned marketing strategist, speaker, and author of several best-selling books on the subject joined our CEO, Bob Ruffolo, and CSO, Tom DiScipio, to critique websites submitted by our audience during our December Website Throwdown.
Are you ready to rumble? With our next monthly episode of Website Throwdown just under a week away (HubSpot’s Luke Summerfield is our guest, don’t miss it!), I wanted to take a minute to share some of the biggest takeaways from last month’s broadcast.
