Maybe you’re trying to get those end-of-the-year reports in, close some last-minute sales, or if you’re in content strategy and creation like me, typing feverishly to publish some traffic and lead gold before the clock strikes 12:00 on New Year’s Eve. But, while this is a crucial time of year for professionals, personally, it is also a very festive one when lifelong memories are often made. Are you working through this holiday weekend? Confidence is one of the sexiest things a person can have and while you wouldn’t usually equate “sexy” to “work” - or at least, you probably shouldn't - confidence is going to take you far. Confidence shines through when you have a good handle on your day-to-day responsibilities and the tasks you’re expected to complete. When you know what you’re doing, you stand a little taller, smile a little brighter, and (if you’re me) you may even do some finger guns while winking at coworkers or clients. Put simply, you feel good -- But that’s only one part of being a confident, kickass employee.

The decision to join the IMPACT team was, at first glance, just a change in the company on my business cards. Ha. 8 months later and I’m more convinced than ever this decision is and was more strategic, deep, and meaningful than I could have ever known at the time or even fully understand today.

When I think back to how simplistic our hiring process used to be, it doesn’t surprise me that we had such severe turnover. After a quick review of their resume, we’d bring people into the IMPACT office for a brief in-person interview. Then, for the most part, we’d ask a few questions regarding their experience, their taste in music, and then the most important question - when can you start? Woah, slow down! At least take a candidate to lunch first, am I right?
