Spring has sprung, ya’ll, and we’ve got the Hubcast to prove it!

In this episode of the Hubcast, Marcus is back! We talk about what acquisitions we think HubSpot should make next (let us know what you think!), what email signatures perform best, and HubSpot’s updated retina support for CTAs.

We’ve even got a little bit of “that was so stupid! What was I thinking?!” for you.

This episode is brought to you by YipYip.

HubSpot Property of The Week

First Page Seen

The first page a contact saw on your website. This is automatically set by HubSpot for each contact.

Workflow example: First page seen = landing page URL AND did not fill out a form on that page.

HubSpot Wish List

Enter 2 Email Addresses for a Contact

“Some businesses benefit from entering 2 different email addresses for a single contact. For now, they create a custom property "secondary email", but if someone fills in a form with this secondary email, they have to manually merge the contact every time."

HubSpot Strategy

Our friends over at Sigstr did some amazing research on email signatures. Here's what they found:

Color, Buttons, Images, and Dimensions of the CTA Banners Matter, Too

  • Purple performs best among the CTA banner background colors, finds Sigstr.
  • CTA banners with and without CTA buttons achieved similar engagement rates, but CTA banners sans buttons “actually averaged out to have a slightly higher click-through rate,” reads the research. (Among the CTA buttons, black fared best in CTR.)
  • Photography results in the highest engagement rates for all CTA banners — not just the ones incorporating visual elements. Marketers love to use illustrations the most, but photos are most effective, according to the research.
  • The most effective CTA banner dimension is wider and shorter, at 300 to 450 pixels by 60 to 120 pixels

[Heads Up] Increasing the Reliability and Accuracy of your Ads Reporting

We’re setting a more specific definition for how ads are attributed to contacts within HubSpot. In the short term, this will increase the reliability and accuracy of your ads reporting in HubSpot. In the future, this update sets us up to provide you with multiple views of attribution.

[Now Live] Retina Support for CTAs

Today with high-resolution screens in our hands, and on our desks, having a clear Call-to-Action (CTA) on your website is important to the overall user experience. With today's update, HubSpot created CTAs now support retina optimization.

Retina support for CTAs is automatically enabled. In order to serve a higher resolution version, marketers will need to upload an image that is 2x the size necessary for the CTA. For example, if your CTA 400 x 100 pixels, then an 800 x 200-pixel image would need to be uploaded to serve the retina version.

[Now Live] Insight into “Not Sent” Sales and Marketing Emails

Live for both Sales and Marketing emails, “Not Sent” notices on a HubSpot CRM contact timeline now include a specific reason for the failure to send.

An email labeled as “Not Sent” means HubSpot decided not to send the email to that recipient due to a variety of reasons that could negatively impact your email deliverability reputation:

  • Your emails previously bounced
  • A contact marked you as spam
  • A contact previously unsubscribed
  • A contact hasn’t confirmed their subscription yet
  • You reached your daily send limit
  • Your mail server settings are not set up properly

....and more.

[Now Live] Floating Notifications

In HubSpot, you’ll now see a floating notification in real time at the top right of your screen when one of your teammates mentions you in an activity on a HubSpot CRM record.

We’re passionate about driving success for you and your team. With today’s update, it’s easier for you to collaborate with your team in HubSpot by presenting you with real-time updates directly where you work.
