If you read many of IMPACT's articles, it should be no surprise that we are a very visual group and going into 2019, using visuals in your content marketing will be more important than ever.
Videos, imagery, charts, infographics, etc. are some of the best ways to increase your reach and post engagement.
In this infographic from Social Media Today, more than 500 digital marketers were surveyed to see how they used visual content in 2018.
The statistics show some interesting trends that may influence your content marketing strategy for 2019.
Let’s take a closer look at the findings and see how they can help you in the new year.
So, what do these statistics tell us?
According to the survey, 88% of marketers used visuals in more than 50% of their published articles, with 56% saying they used visuals 100% of the time.
Of these visuals, stock photography was the most frequently used, with original graphics following close behind.
The interesting part is that when you analyze what drove the most engagement, stock photography falls down to only 12%, with original graphics jumping up to 40% and videos following at 23%.
I love when the statistics support what we have been saying all along; photography and videos are critical to your marketing strategy...
But, can you really afford the time and resources?
In 2018, only 17% of the marketers surveyed spent more than 30% of their budget on visuals.
This number jumps significantly to 32% of marketers (from 17%) projected for 2019, showing that digital marketers are recognizing the value in using visuals in their content and making sure they allocate budget for it appropriately.
If you don’t have in-house designers or videographers to help with your visuals, the good news is that there are tools that can assist you.
