"1 Year Marcella-bration, Marcella's Top 5 Episodes" (Creator's Block Podcast)

I cannot believe it’s been one whole year already. It’s been such a wild ride that I barely even realized that September marked the on year anniversary of my being a Creator’s Block co-host.

It feels like it was just yesterday that Liz Murphy (now queen of Content Lab) walked up to me and said, “So I hear you should be my new co-host” ...or something to that degree.

At the time, I was completely terrified. Who was going to want to listen to ME ramble on about god knows what every week? What if I sounded dumb? What if I ACTUALLY didn’t know what I’m doing at all?

A year later, a year wiser, and I still don’t know what I’m doing most of the time, but I sure am glad I took the leap and signed on.

Hosting Creator’s Block has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my life over the last year, so to celebrate I’m going to take a walk down memory lane (and drag you with me) with my top 5 episodes from the last year.

Justine and I will be back next week on October 16th with a brand new episode.

Until then, enjoy my top 5!

The Effect of Stress & Anxiety in the Workplace

Mental health is so intertwined with physical health but can oftentimes be overlooked, with many people tending to focus a lot more on diet and exercise. For me, mental health is how I’m doing emotionally, psychologically, and socially. Though mental health seems like a heavy topic, struggles with it are all too common and it is our duty to talk about and in doing so, beat the stigma.

As someone who has dealt with anxiety my entire life, this episode meant a lot to me. I know first hand the importance of managing anxiety and how difficult it can be to struggle alone.

Creator's Block Book Club: The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck

Don’t judge a book by it’s cover… er title. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck may seem a little rough around the edges, but it’s one little book with a whole lot of heart. Loaded with engrossing stories about values, dedication and more, I couldn’t put this one down.

I’ve always dreamed of being in a book club. Who would have thought my first book club would be on my own podcast?

Mindfulness at Work, featuring Chris Duprey

Here on Creator's Block, we're not experts at mindfulness, so we invited Creator’s Block veteran and IMPACT COO, Chris Duprey, back to help us unpack the topic of mindfulness from the perspective of leaders -- or professionals in general -- who have heard about it, maybe have some limited experience with it, but don’t get the practical applications it can have not only at home, but at work.

I know this is one of Liz’s favorite as well, but I can’t help but mention it again. Chris brings so much emotional depth to the table, it is a must listen.

What is a work family? And should I have one?

So we’ve talked about how to balance your personal life and your professional life and make them work like yin and yang, but in this episode, we talk about something I think is not being discussed nearly enough, “The Work Family.”

This one is near and dear to my heart. As I was dealing with some personal problems (don’t worry I’m okay!) I realized how truly valuable the bond with my work family was.

The Curse of Comparison

Comparing yourself to others is oftentimes rooted in insecurity and jealousy, but it also seems to happen on a daily basis. Is there a way to avoid or change this way of thinking? The “Curse of Comparison” is so prevalent in our society today and with most of us spending an inordinate amount of time on social media, it is becoming harder and harder to avoid falling into the trap of thinking "the grass is greener."

This is one of my faves because we too often forget that this is a totally normal phenomenon and once you recognize it, you can move on.
