So you have a lead that just filled out your offer. Awesome! And they get to your generic, non-optimized thank you page and that’s it. They click off your page and wait for you to contact them. But what if there was more? Why not add some offers and other goodies on the thank you page to get them to form fill again?
By simply adding some quick and easy things to your thank you pages you can keep pushing those leads down your sales funnel. Most people will click away from your site after filling out your form and reaching a thank you page, simply because there is nothing left to do. But we know that’s not true, don’t we? There are plenty of important things to include on your thank you pages, and guess what? I’m going to go ahead and list what I think are the most important for you to include.
1. Link to Your Offer
The most important thing, and probably a no-brainer, is to include a link to the offer that they are looking for. The viewer just took the time to fill out your form, so you should make it as easy as possible for them to get what they wanted. A nice big link that states, “Download [Offer Name] Here” works well. If the offer is a PDF or document, a link works well. With a video, it’s usually nice to offer a download of the video, as well as embed it onto the thank you page so they can view it immediately.
This area should also be used to thank the viewer for taking the time to fill out your form and get the offer. Politeness goes a long way after all .
2. Social Sharing
A person who takes the time to fill out your form for an offer will probably be willing to share that offer with friends. That means you probably want to have some sort of social sharing available on your thank you page (you want them on landing pages too, but that’s a post for another day). One of the most important things to remember with social sharing on thank you pages is that they need to link to your landing page, we don’t want to just be giving your offers away do we? 3. Bottom of the Funnel Offer (BOFU)
We know that thanking the person and giving them their offer are the main purpose of the thank you page. But we can go further. By simply adding a Bottom of the Funnel offer such as an assessment, you have the ability to immediately capture another BOFU lead. Who’s more likely to fill out a bottom of the funnel offer than someone who already filled out another offer? They have already expressed an interest in your company, or a service you provide by filling out this form. So why not give them the opportunity to contact you directly, or set up a meeting for a free assessment.
It’s very reassuring to see testimonials on a site. It lets the viewer know your services are everything you say and more, plus it’s nice to show off kind words people say about your company (See the kind words said about IMPACT). Testimonials on a thank you page are especially important if you’re trying to push them down to a BOFU offer. The extra push from a previous clients kind words might make the difference between them clicking away or filling out your form.
5. Auto-Response Emails
Auto response emails are a great way to remind a person about the offer they filled out. It’s a good idea to include a link to the offer download, as well as your social media and social sharing in these emails. Utilizing the auto-response email can be another avenue to bring the viewer back to your site and get them to the BOFU offers you want.
In addition to the link for the offer they filled out, it’s a great idea to add a text link to a trial, assessment, or other BOFU offer (Are you getting the hint yet? We want them to become Bottom of the Funnel). Also, make sure you add your contact information incase they would like to speak with you directly.
Utilizing the five main points of thank you page optimization will go a long way. By implementing all of these you’ll be creating a lead generating thank you page that will entice your viewers to share your landing pages, and maybe even fill out some BOFU offers.
