If you are like me, you are always looking for ways to leverage social media, new technology, multi-media integration, and any other means that enhance the visibility of my business. However, without the proper guidance, there are opportunities that truly slip by the wayside and are not utilized. Fortunately, today, the IMPACT branding & design, LLC Learning Center will be walking with you through ten different ways for your to leverage your linkedin profile with quick improvements.
First and foremost, you have ensure that your profile is complete. It’s rather simple to see if yours is complete because LinkedIn provides members with access to this information through the profile screen in the right-hand sidebar. For what it’s worth, completing the profile is the easy part; editing it for public view is a bit harder.
The second piece of the puzzle is to implement and integrate the 3 URL’s that you are allowed within your profile. If you don’t have three websites, you can highlight various landing pages and title them as such (i.e. Wallingford Real Estate, Meriden Real Estate, Cheshire Real Estate all go to various landing pages on your main website). You can also customize the links with Twitter support/promotion.
Moving through the process, you have the ability to customize the vanity URL for your user profile. I cannot emphasize enough for you to take advantage of that opportunity. It truly allows you the chance to customize/brand your profile. Editing the URL is fairly simple as you click on the edit button just above your profile link then scroll down the right sidebar of the next screen to get to the edit pop-up window.
Venturing back up the profile a little bit more before going into more depth, it is to your benefit to customize the Professional Headline that you use with your LinkedIn profile. The Headline is something that is displayed on your public page views, and is editable through the “edit” link near your name.
A typical mistake that people make on their LinkedIn profiles is to simply list their previous and current positions without actually demonstrating their expertise. There are three ways that you can achieve this: (1) Populating the summary area with an outstanding and enticing description, (2) using keywords in your specialty descriptions, and (3) list your accomplishments in resume style.
Similar to Facebook, there is a keyword section that lists out the skills you possess. You can simply click on the edit button and start typing what you feel your skills are; you’ll find that there are several thousand pre-programmed in the system that you can choose from.
While this seems like it’s obvious, I cannot tell you how many accounts out there have 1 or no connections at all. If you fail to connect with a network, you fail to utilize the full power of LinkedIn. It’s as easy as entering your e-mail address or synching with your social media. After you have developed a base of connections, you can also venture a gander into the suggested connections in the right sidebar of main page.
Overall, you can start with the above. However, if you need further/additional information you can simply leave a comment below or give us a call.
