Visual content works wonders when it comes to attracting visitors to a site. Who doesn’t love a cute photo or funny cartoon? Even better, however, is a well-crafted infographic, which serves not only to entertain, but to inform.
Infographics are becoming more and more popular, especially with marketers, so being able to quickly create succinct and appealing infographics is a great skill to have.
Watch the below video as Tom DiScipio, Director of Project Marketing at IMPACT Branding & Design, takes a few moments to discuss the elements involved in creating a compelling infographic design.
Infographic Design Software
Here at IMPACT, we love the Adobe suite (and we’re sure you do, too!). When it comes to infographic design, we prefer to use Illustrator and Photoshop; we save InDesign for use in creating our eBooks. To get started, use Illustrator.
Start with Illustrator
Take the wireframe you’ve already developed, and build it in Illustrator using simple vectors. Use elements from around the Internet to complete your infographic; the web has many free shapes and vectors that can be used. All it takes is a simple search to find them, and then some creativity to make the design your own. When your infographic is complete, it’s time to move to Photoshop!
Use Photoshop to Finish
Move your finalized design into Photoshop to save it to web. This ensures that the infographic uploads quickly and is easily accessible. The infographic should be between 600-650 pixels wide so that it caters to all screen sizes, whether it be a laptop, computer, or smartphone. When you’re done saving your infographic, you’re ready to put it to use!
Where to Use Infographics
Here are just a few places you can use your infographics:
- Your website
- Google+
