Are you currently doing enough business blogging to help generate more relevant traffic and leads for your website?
The fact is, so many companies are missing the point when it comes to publishing fresh, quality content on a consistent basis. Re-publishing content from other websites or sharing content from other sources won’t get the job done for you in the search engines.
Harnessing the full potential of your business blog will prove to benefit you in three major ways which we’ve detailed below.

#1: Blogging Boosts your SEO Efforts
If you want to have your website found in the search engines, then you have got to have a blog, and it has got to be on the same domain as your site. We’ll get into this point a bit later on when we talk about how often you need to blog, and how the frequency of your blog plays a significant role in how easily search engines will be able to find your site.
#2: Blogging Makes You an Expert
With 71% of HubSpot respondents saying that a business blog on a website affects their purchasing decisions, you can quite easily see just how important it is to have a blog. Having a blog allows for a number of things:
- You are seen as a problem solver. The best way to sell something is to name the problem that your customers are having, acknowledge the problem in the blog, and then write a very detailed and descriptive blog that offers a practical solution (don’t use it to sell your product). When you help solve problems with content rather than push your product or service on people…
- …You earn people’s trust. This is another important benefit, especially when people are buying over the internet. People prefer to purchase things from some- one they know or at least feel familiar with and think they can trust. For instance, wouldn’t you rather buy a vehicle from an honest car salesman who tells you ex- actly what the problems are with the car and offers a fix than a shady salesman who overlooks the problems with the car and simply tries to push it on you?
- You become a leader. Becoming an expert in your niche means that you become a leader. When you become a leader, people trust in what you say, and also place a higher stake on your thoughts and opinions. This will come in handy when you start suggesting products and services that visitors can use to solve their problems.
#3: Blogging Allows for Easy Calls-To-Action
As we briefly mentioned before, having a blog will allow you to suggest and even make direct calls-to-action, or CTAs.
One of the best selling techniques that you can use with your blog is to match the offer that you want to make with the content that you write in a blog post. This will not only naturally capture the attention of visitors and turn them into leads, but it will appeal to their desire to buy from you.
Another nice way to add in a call to action is to add it in the sidebar of your blog. You can also create banners to help advertise some of your best offers and add them around your blog so that visitors can check those out too (just make sure that you don’t clutter the page with offers – people hate feeling as if they’re being pushed into a sale!).
