Optimizing Blog Articles
The starting point for any optimization project is with keywords. No web page or blog article will ever be fully optimized for success unless they contain the right keywords necessary for lead generation.
At IMPACT, we utilize the HubSpot Keyword Tool in order to identify the right keywords for our clients as well as ourselves. Once you’ve identified them, optimizing blog articles becomes much easier.
Implementing Keywords
Simply put, these keywords should be everywhere in your blog article. In the main title, in at least one heading (H2) in the article, as well as featured at least three time throughout the content of the article (make sure your article is between 400-600 words.) Be careful not to just stuff these keywords anywhere, as you don’t want Google to penalize you for practicing black-hat SEO tactics.
Be sure that keywords are featured in a manner that is conversational and allows the article to flow naturally.
You’ll also want to be sure that the featured image in your blog (always include images in blog posts!) contains the keyword in the alt tags.
HubSpot’s blogging interface will let you know where you are missing keywords before you hit the publish button, so you’ll never miss opportunities to get your articles found!
