Social media campaigns are one of the many rising interests for businesses throughout Connecticut. Owners and managers want to know which accounts they should have within the vast world of social network websites, and are amazed at the significant results that are yielded from a successful social media marketing campaign. One of the busiest business networks to date has been Twitter, and we have created a no-fail formula for Twitter success.
The major portion of the equation rests with your brand; deliver your brand message through the customizable background, the abbreviated description, the image avatar with your profile, and (most-importantly) your twitter user-name. In general, everything associated with your Twitter profile needs to clearly encourage and support your brand message.
To further the brand message discussion, let’s take a look at our IMPACT Twitter background. We utilize the image of a water-droplet’s strong and everlasting impact on a larger body of water. It brings our brand to the foreground as our tag-line is “make a splash” (which is exactly what you will do if you work with us in establishing a better online and offline reputation for your brand). Shameless plug aside, we transcend our brand message through our background image:
The second aspect of the formula depends on the opportunities that you have to update your audience regularly. Now, that doesn’t mean that you should spam your readers with plugs or useless links that point to your website non-stop. Instead, update your followers with something they find valuable and will end up re-tweeting to their followers. In order to gain readers (followers) you must be able to prove that listening to what you have to say is important and will better their life in one way or another. Include daily tips, re-broadcast other information you find useful, and truly make an effort to help people through your updates.
The next section of the formula relies on conversation with your followers. Do not make the mistake of assuming that your followers will stay following you if you do not add to their networking experience. Provide them with more value by listening to their conversations, joining in with them, and adding to the overall networking experience. This will only benefit you as their followers will now also find your @user-name within updates that don’t necessarily revolve around your business. It shows that you care about your followers and what is going on in their life.
One of the final variables in your Twitter formula is the ability to get and respond to direct messages. I know that your time throughout the day is incredibly tight, but this is one of the most important areas that you can excel. When someone takes the time to direct message you through Twitter, they think about ways they can shorten their message into the 140 characters, they think about what will get you to respond, and they think about whether or not you will respond (until it actually happens). Take the time to respond and do it in a timely manner; it will show those followers that you care about them, you care about the feedback, and you care about maintaining an outstanding brand image.
The final section of the formula is a bit more labor-intensive, but it involves you taking the time to create relevant lists. Your lists should help your followers. Some lists that I have seen range from local business niches, clientele interests, and other “clique” type groupings. The general idea behind this relies on the idea of niche networking; by you aiding them with this you are enabling a better networking experience.
To summarize, the social networking realm has evolved into a much needed facet to the marketing ventures of Connecticut businesses. However, many local companies fail at their Twitter attempts due to a lack of know-how and technique. Instead of letting this go unsolved, we have created the no-fail Twitter formula which revolves on (1) establishing and maintaining a brand message, (2) publishing consistent and beneficial updates, (3) starting and holding conversations with your audience, (4) directly and quickly responding to feedback, and (5) creating lists that will help your followers’ networking experience. Overall, it is not a hard formula to master, but if you need help please don’t hesitate to contact IMPACT today.
