During the short days of April 28th to May 3rd, the algorithmic change known as “May Day” commenced.  If you have not noticed the difference in your search engine traffic, it’s most likely because the change has primarily affected larger sites with relation to long tail searches (keyword phrases of more than 3 words).  However, to explain this change a little more, let’s listen in to Google’s Matt Cutts:

As Matt Cutts states in his video message, you have to re-evaluate your site’s content and determine if it is the most relevant and highest quality content out there.  Yes, it is more work with the new algorithm, but it also means that you have a better chance of hitting your target markets.  So, talk with you web designers as well as your content managers and determine the best search marketing strategy moving forward.
