So what’s this Google+ for business all about?
Let’s face, it, we all like to be “in” on something before it becomes a popular choice for the masses.
iPods? “Yeah…I had one back in ’03 before the click wheel even came out!”
Facebook? “I remember back when Facebook was strictly a college network, it was awesome!”
The Zune. Hmm, yeah that one never really worked out.
But let me give you a little secret about one that will: Google+.
Now I know what you’re thinking. You picture Google+ to be like some deserted town out of an old western. You know…something like this..
When in reality, it’s more like this.
These five smiling faces are actually a few of the members of our team here at IMPACT in a Google+ Hangout. This enables you to hold a video chat with up to 25 people. So whether it’s a business meeting, or you’re looking to video chat with some of your friends and colleagues outside of work, Hangout’s are the way to go.
So right a way we’ve ditched that notion that Google+ is some deserted, boring social network that no one is using.
So now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s get into why Google+ for business is the next big thing, and why you should join now and be “that guy” who two years from now will fondly recall the days when you were one of the smart ones who saw the value in it.
Well…it’s Google
Let’s face it, Google isn’t an up and comer. They have the finances and resources to dominate the social networking landscape in the coming years, and all other competitors (that’s you, Zuckerberg) should be aware.
Google also has a hold of the search engine market, as top rankings in Google are worth their weight in gold. Not surpirsingly, this makes Google+ a valuable SEO tool for your business as well. Google is starting to feature Google+ pages in search queries, making the new network a necessity for businesses moving forward.
Google+ Hangouts
As briefly discussed before, here’s one huge advantage Google+ currently has over Facebook, the ability to video chat with up to 25 people at once, anytime, anywhere! How awesome is that?
Simply just enter the Hangout’s tab on your Google+ sidebar, and you’ll be able to join existing Hangout’s or simply create your own.
You can even use Hangout’s on your mobile phone, enabling you to video chat from just about anywhere.
Circles
Due to the ability to create “circles” on Google+, you’re able to more effectively talk and engage with your following. Rather than sending out blasts to all of your followers i.e. Facebook, Google+ allows you to place all of your friends in “circles”, such as Friends, Family, Acquaintances and even ones that you create yourself. So when you go to post updates or share info, you can restrict it to only certain circles of your followers.
This allows you to more effectively engage with members of your social media following, something Facebook and Twitter haven’t really grasped yet. Sure, our social media following is there for us to talk and engage with, but how about a more efficient and customizable approach for communicating?
