7 Unique Content Marketing Ideas to Shake Up Your Marketing Campaign

We all know that when it comes to online marketing, what really matters is the content that you have on your site.  So we all have great web pages, fantastic blogs, and create intriguing social media posts.  But when it comes to href="http://www.impactbnd.com/content-marketing-practices" target="_blank">creating marketing content… ever wonder if people are just getting sick of reading pages of text? Ever find yourself running low on content marketing ideas?


We already know that people prefer videos to text.  YouOn TV recently revealed that videos are 5.33x more effective than text.  But that doesn’t mean that your entire page has to be full of videos.  Try giving some of these different content marketing ideas a try and see how much it can boost your business.


1. Comics and Cartoons


People are visually driven creatures, so coming up with ways to present material in the form of pictures rather than just text will benefit your company almost immediately.  Funny comics and cartoons that have something to do with the industry you’re in will not only capture the interest of visitors, leads and customers, but they also are more likely to be shared on social media sites.  More shares means more exposure, and isn’t that a good thing?


2. Content Visualizations


Why not tell your story with graphics rather than words?  Again keeping in mind that people are visually driven, creating content visualizations instead of presenting information in text will help keep your visitors engaged and interested.  Content visualizations are particularly great when it comes to having to describe or explain any concepts that may be hard to explain in writing.


3. Memes


Memes are everywhere on the web these days.  Go ahead, take some time to have a good laugh and learn at the same time while checking out some of the most popular memes online.  Memes are great for a few reasons:



  • They’re popular (the chances of them being shared and going viral online is quite high in comparison to other media)

  • They’re memorable

  • They’re fun


Memes can go a long way in helping you further develop and create your brand’s image.  Keep in the back of your mind how you can use popular memes that are out on the ‘net today.

4. Share Original Data


Why not conduct some of your own research and then share it with the masses?  Not only will sharing original data provide you with some great content to post to your site, but it will also help establish you as an industry professional and expert.  When coming up with research ideas, think about some topics in your particular niche or industry where you would like to find out more information.  Then, have a survey or a poll, or partner up with a research company to help you gather the data that you need.  Once you have compiled the information, share it!


TIP:  Consider putting the information in the form of an infographic as well as in text.


5. Create Controversy


Why not play the devil’s advocate to really get some discussions going?  Creating a bit of controversy is one of the best ways to really increase traffic to your site, encourage group discussions, and nab some fantastic inbound links.  People love picking a side.  Once you have people emotionally invested in a topic, you’re guaranteed to have a lot of fodder going on between visitors and even yourself.


6. Share your Events


If you regularly participate in events – whether this is online or offline events – you should be sharing this news with the public. Rather than create a tweet or a blog post about it, why not devote an entire page to all of the events that you’ll be doing this season?  For each event, make sure that you include:



  • A link to the event

  • Where your company will be located at the event

  • Links to social media content about the event


7. Livestream Videos


As videos are 5.33x more effective than text, why not try going live with them?  More and more people are watching videos and video marketing online as opposed to viewing things on the television, and they especially like watching livestreaming videos.  For example, the “Royal Wedding” of Kate and Prince William last year caused an increase of global video streaming traffic by 26% (Sandvine, 2011). Videos present you with the unique ability to insert CTAs or product and service information in rather innocuous ways.  Some online marketing firms believe that such practices subconsciously encourage viewers to convert.
