With the rapid evolution and rising of the smartphone, it has become increasingly important to reach your target audience through their mobile devices.  The only way to do that is through what is being referred to as “the new webpage” — the mobile app.  However, the general thought amongst business owners it that their clientele will not utilize their app; I am here to tell you that you couldn’t be more wrong!

The app revolution – as it has affectionately come to be known  – is a tremendous excitement as there are almost infinite possibilities with their capabilities.  As of late 2009, there are over 50,000 apps for the iPhone, the Android is rapidly catching up with over 10,000, and the Blackberry remains steady at over 12,000.  Since that date, I’m sure that there have been several thousand more additions which help the users in some way, shape, or form.  All of these app creators have found a reason to make an app for their company or service.  Why should you develop an app?

  1. Immediate Satisfaction — Your audience wants immediate access to everything within their world.  Their smartphone is no exception to this rule!  With a highly functional app, you have the opportunity to provide your app-users with the most up to date information, sales, services, staffing, and any other pertinent information with regard to your company.
  2. Up the Customer Service — When you have merely a brick and mortar store you can rely primarily on face to face interactions.  But, when you choose to also have an online presence and appeal to a more tech-savvy clientele, your audience is now looking for quality customer service at a virtual level as well.  With a user-friendly app designed for your company, you are afforded the chance to deliver that high-quality level of customer service that will help define your commitment to your customers.
  3. Create the Hype — Your marketing mix most likely consists of mediums that work for your audience.  However, a significant number of those marketing techniques do not consistently put you in front of your target clientele.  If you have an app developed for your company that is engaging and interactive, you can significantly increase your face-time with your customers.
  4. Increase Your Revenue — We all know that you, as the business manager, are in the habit of finding ways to increase your revenue or add revenue streams.  However, for the most part of your business it costs money to make money.  A  well-designed app can give you the opportunity to quickly and efficiently close a sale with your clientele, and the best part is that the app is doing the majority of the work!

With the rise of the app rapidly gaining steam, it’s an important time for you to think about the impact creating (or not creating) an app for your company will have.  If you choose to develop an app, you can benefit from increased clientele exposure, an additional revenue stream with no overhead, a higher level of customer service, and a feeling of immediate satisfaction from your client.  But, if you don’t design an app for your business you could lose out on a significant marketing medium.  Any questions?
