Keywords

The first question you need to ask yourself is, “what are potential consumers in my industry searching for in search engines like Google?” For example, if you’re a commercial cleaning company, potential consumers may be searching for terms like, “commercial cleaning companies in CT,” or “office cleaning.”

These are called keywords. These specific keywords are essential to the success of your website, as they are how traffic and visitors will find your website.

So identify what keywords will help your website and company get found in the search engines, and then work these keywords into the content of every page of your website.   This will help to improve your websites search engine optimization (SEO)  and help to drive more traffic to your site.

Blog

Since we’re on the topic of getting found in search engines, quite possibly the most effective way of doing this is by publishing consistent, quality content in the form of blogging. What this does is allow Google to index even more pages from your website, ensuring more opportunities for potential consumers to find your website.

Blogging also provides a great opportunity to integrate those keywords you’ve established into website content, which further optimizes your website for traffic and lead generation. Don’t know what to blog about? What types of questions would consumers in your industry have? What challenges are they facing?

By answering these questions through a consistent blog, you’re establishing yourself as an industry leader and also a trusted advisor for your consumers.

Forms

So you have all these visitors on your website, how do they become leads?

Conversion forms, my friends.

Conversion forms are fillable forms where visitors enter their contact information in order to access premium content on your website (Ebooks, webinars, etc.) Once they’ve entered their contact information, you now have a lead that you can nurture through a process of emails and phone calls.

You want to have specific forms as well. Forms that will access a free demo or consultation, as this will help to qualify a lead before you even get on the phone with them.

Set Up Social Media Profiles & Engage

If you haven’t already begun implementing social media into your marketing campaign, shame on you! Social media has become an essential way to find and engage with industry consumers.

It’s imperative to the success of your website that you set up social media profiles for all of the major players. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and even Google+. The key to a strong social media presence is providing attractive, resourceful content on your social media profiles that aims to drive your followers back to your website.

And don’t forget the most important part, engage! Just as easy as it is for people to follow or like you, it’s just as easy to unfollow and unlike you as well. Answer your followers questions. Ask some of your own. Keep an open line of communication with your followers and stay engaged in order to keep them interested in your page and company.

Get a Handle of your On-Page SEO

Remember when we were talking about the importance of your site showing up in search engines in order for potential consumers to find you? Well, here’s where you ensure that your site is search friendly.

On-page SEO refers to the search friendliness of each of your web pages. Does each web page contain a keyword in the page title, headers, and content of the page? Confused about what any of this means?

Analytics

The problem with so many websites in their current state is that there’s no way of measuring the success or failures of their functions. How much traffic is your website getting? Where is that traffic coming from? How much traffic are your social media networks generating?

How about leads?

The bottom line is you need to know this pertinent information in order to better plan and maintain a powerful marketing campaign. At IMPACT, as partners of HubSpot, we utilize their analytical software that literally measures everything from traffic to customers acquired from that traffic.

How else could you plan an effective campaign if you don’t have an understanding about how your marketing endeavors are working?
