With millions of people hopping onto Facebook every day for their social media fix, it’s no wonder that a lot of B2C companies have been able to get more leads and customers through their Facebook accounts. The one thing that we often hear from our clients is, “But HOW?” We’ll talk about some of the top tips that we give to our very best clients about how you can use your Facebook account for your B2C company to get more leads and convert visitors into customers:
1) Post Great Content 3-5 Times a Day
If you already have a Facebook account and just aren’t drawing in the leads as you expected, take a look at how often you’re posting to this social media giant. We go into greater depth about how and when to post to Facebook in our free Ebook, “Master Facebook Marketing”, but what it really boils down to is that the more frequently you post, the more exposure you’ll gain.
But there’s another trick to it: the status updates and material that you post should be compelling. You want it to be about your business, or your products/service, or maybe just a great inspirational quote. It should be entertaining and intriguing so that those who see your post will “share” it. If only one fan of yours sees and shares your status update or the material you’ve posted to Facebook, then you are easily reaching an additional 150-300 people with that one single share.
TIP: There are tools out there that can help you determine exactly when and what to post on Facebook. Use tools like the HubSpot Keyword Grader to help determine which keywords will illicit the greatest response, or try out Edgerank Checker to discover:
- Popular keywords that will increase customer engagement
- When the best time of day to post content is and how often you should update
- What type of media your visitors prefer
2) Be Interactive
If you want people to share your content, then you’ve got to participate in discussions. Whenever you post material to Facebook, and receive comments, make sure you jump in on the conversation too. Add your two cents. Acknowledge what people are saying. By engaging with your potential leads and customers, you’re showing off your expertise while also showing that you respect and value what your potential customer has to say.
Engaging with your customers will also go a long way in building relationships with these people. Successful B2C companies know that the traditional methods of marketing (i.e. constantly harassing and assaulting potential customers with advertisements and interrupting their lives) just aren’t cutting it any more. These days, if you want to sell, you have to build a relationship and hopefully turn that lead into a customer, and that customer into a brand loyalist.
TIP: Having a strong Facebook page loaded with fans who love you and your brand will go a long way in terms of social proof. If other visitors see that your customers love your brand, then they’ll feel compelled to feel the same way, too.
3) Consider Using a Third Party Platform
As a small B2C company, chances are that you’re already completely tapped out when it comes to time. To help save yourself potentially hours and hours a day, consider downloading a third party platform to help you distribute your social media content. Tools like HootSuite allow you to publish your content just once while distributing it to a number of social media outlets, like your Facebook business page, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, and many other social media sites that you like to use.
4) Try Out Facebook Social Plugins
A recent study that came out from Gigya revealed that Facebook pages that utilized social plugins had visitors spending 50% more time on those sites, and that users viewed twice as many pages as a result.
What does this mean to you? That you should be using plugins on your site wherever applicable. Plugins are usually free to use and allow your visitors to enjoy a deeper level of engagement. An added benefit is that you can then market your brand through referral product.
5) Make Use of Analytical Data
There are a number of ways in which you can grade your Facebook marketing efforts, one of the easiest being a tool that Facebook already offers: Facebook Insights. You can easily export this data to an Excel spreadsheet and find out information such as:
- Which status updates performed the best
- How your visitors responded to material you posted
- API performance
- Application Users and Content
Key Takeaways:
There are a lot of things that you can start doing today to help drive more visitors to your Facebook page. You should:
- Post compelling and entertaining content at least 3 times a day
- Engage with your customers
- Make use of third party tools to help you manage and post to all of your social media accounts
- Make use of Facebook social plugins
- Regularly pull analytical data to see how well your social media marketing efforts are doing
